The two talked about all-things mobile advertising and on Friday Alex published an article titled: Q&A With appssavvy CEO Chris Cunningham: How Native Advertising Can Bring Big, Beautiful Ads To Mobile.
The BI Intelligence subscriber-only piece (learn more about subscribing or a free trial here) included the following excerpts that Alex enabled us to blog about:
In his introduction, Alex wrote that Chris “…thinks big, beautiful advertisements are the key to drawing major brand dollars into mobile. By focusing on fewer, but more effective advertisements, the industry could boost its long-term prospects.”
“If we could snap our fingers and change our entire industry, we would love to see less (mobile) inventory across the board, raise its quality, and drive up price,” Chris told Alex.
Alex asked: Is there a future for the banner ad in mobile advertising? And Chris’ response: “Absolutely, categorically not. People don’t like them and that’s reality. But your question is kind of a tricky one because it’s not going to just disappear. I think this will be the year that companies like ours and others will begin to show at a smaller scale what beautiful ads can look like within mobile environments. I think once that has amassed enough volume, advertisers will want to adjust where they spend, whom they spend with, and how much they spend.”
